Different Suspension Noise
Last minute thought - are the sway bar end links the right ones?
The 12" ones sometimes will hit the lower control arms - but that is more of a clang/bang rather than a grinding if I remember right. If they are causing a problem, one should be able to see wear on the outside of the LCA where it is making contact.

So, just wanted to post an update. I finally got a chance to take a look at the car. The sway bars links were the 10" but I found that my passenger side sway bar link was very loose and totally shot. I have replaced both sides with the moog and it has solved a number of noises. Now I just have a slight squeak when going over bumps.
It also gave me a chance to look at the work done by Kal-Tire. Found the WRONG part installed. First off, it is a brand called Mevotech which, after some research, does have the correct looking part. The one that is installed in my car looks too small (like a miniature version), painted black, and is steel. I will be taking it back once they figure out where they can get the right part. I will also make sure I see it first.
Two quick questions: Is the sway supposed to be able to slide side-to-side? It doesn't rock if I shake but it moves with a push/pull motion.
Is there a moog LCA part # that correct for this car?
Thanks,
Carl

Posting the part number they used for the Mevotech LCA would really help clarify what exactly they used. I did a double check of our parts list here at https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/comm...-part-i-48833/
and see that someone gave us two Mevotech part numbers - MS50174 pass side - Mevotech P/N - MS50173 for the drivers side. I checked them out at a couple sites, and it turns out they are the STEEL ones for the Cobalt. They have now been removed from our parts list. Steel ones are NOT recommended as a replacement on an HHR.
Did you try looking at MOOG yourself for LCA's? A 30 second search found the following page: chevrolet hhr 2007, Moog Suspension Parts.
Passenger side - MOOG-RK620897
Drivers side - MOOG-RK620898
They are now added to our parts list thread.
Check out this page to see how wrong parts lists can be: chevrolet hhr 2007, Moog Suspension Parts.
- Note that the description mentions the turbocharged HHR (I gather they mean the SS), however they also mention the suspension spec FE1. Well, the SS has the FE5 suspension and it surely does not come with stamped steel LCAs.

After taking with Kal-Tire again. It appears they installed a Mevotech CMS50118 (see here).
I believe that CMS50174 is the correct part number and it looks correct from the pictures. Where did you find that it was incorrect? I have given Kal-Tire these part #s to track down to replace the sh*t thats in the car now:
Mevotech - CMS50174
Moog - RK620897
Now I'm just waiting to hear back!
Oldblue - Thanks for pointing that out. I did purchase the problem solver bushings and they are sitting in the garage for when the time comes. I think I will try to replace the drivers side one this summer.
