Based on another post regarding a similar issue, the original poster changed fuse 69 and said that it fixed it. Also was said that it is connected to the tail lights

I noticed this evening that the dimmer lights up the dome lights when turned all the way to the right, just simple isn't adjusting the other lights
Alright that is fine but if you ever do want further assistance I would be more than happy to provide it.

If I remember correctly the dimmer switch gos to the body controller and the body controller dims the dash lights. I would try disconnecting the battery for a min or two to reset the body controller. Some times modules can get confused and lockup. If you are going to the dealer to get it check then don't disconnect the battery because it will clear any codes that would be in there that may help them find the problem.

Another thing occurred too, the rear bottom tail lights are not working either. The top two are fine, so I can get turn signals just fine and braking as well, but the bottom ones aren't responding, the white and red ones. I heard that these might be connected?

What happened with checking fuse #69 ?

Fwiw. If the fuses check OK, I would suggest pulling the waterfall and check to see if the dimmer control wiring is firmly plugged into the switch.
If someone had the waterfall off before(replacing the radio maybe?) they may not have gotten the dimmer switch plugged back in completely.

There are no lower tail lights, those are the back-up lights with a reflective red surround, you have to have the ignition on and the transmission in reverse for the back-up lights to illuminate. (Engine off obviously, unless you want to squish your helper)

Several members here have modified their HHR's to have four functional tail lights, but the quarter panels require some modifications to the lower openings, and the back-up lights have to be relocated to the bumper.

Fireman,, yep, yep!!
While you are in there, check to see if you have voltage at the switch. If yes, then replace the switch. If not check the fuse for the switch. It would seem odd that the switch would have its own circuit, it is usuallypiggy backed with other items.
