The shifter part is covered under an extended warranty. It is from gummed up lubricant on the interlock switch. The dorrs are probably the rods being out of alignment and binding or the lock mechanism being old and weak.

There might be a time limit on the shifter warranty. I fixed mine my squirting some WD40 on the offending parts.

Thank you Sir I will check into the warranty?
I am assuming this would be a Technical Service Bulletin and not a safety campaign since I was not notified by GM.

I doubt GM will do anything about this on a 15 year old , 2006 model year, a TSB was a suggestion as to repairing the problem, back then . Most Dealerships that are in business weren’t prior to the bailout and bankruptcy of GM in 2008 or 9.

Yes, it's not a recall, don't use that word with the dealership, or they might just stop listening to you. It's an extended warranty. There is a thread for it in our recall forum.

Did you own the car in 2015?

You might try here: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/gm-r...-status-50716/
I Know they sent letters to registered owners, in 2014-2015 I think. There was an earlier "key stuck in ignition" thin, somewhat related but not the same.
I know we discussed the extended warranty for a long time, now I can't find the good parts.

Check this link out post #5 shows the spot to shoot WD40. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...-sticks-37727/
