Question Drain and fill question about the transmission (automatic)

- 2007 LS model
- 2.2 liter EcoTec engine
- automatic transmission
- about ~97.5k miles

Just wondering, there are two different versions of the "GM Genuine" Dexron 6 fluid over on Amazon... one is apparently normal blend and the other one is "full synthetic". Which one is the correct one to use? Or does it not matter?

Looking at the manual it simply says you're supposed to use "DEXRONŽ-VI Automatic Transmission Fluid"... but doesn't specify regular vs synthetic

These are the two I'm looking at over on Amazon:

- 10-9244 ("full synthetic")
- 10-9395 (bottle doesn't have the word "synthetic", presumably regular)

They're roughly the same price, but one is synthetic and the other one apparently isn't

...or perhaps it's just the same product with different numbers on it? I find it odd one says "FULL SYNTHETIC" on the bottle and the other one doesn't

Thoughts?

Dexron VI is a synthetic specification. If it is Dexron VI it is synthetic.

So the 2 bottles listed are basically the same thing then?

I'm just trying to figure out if there's a difference between "10-9244" and "10-9395"

Part numbers different because of the label?

No need for Genuine GM. The Dexron VI is a specification, if it meets the spec it is Dexr9n VI. GM routinely relabels things, no telling what factory produced the product.

I’ve used Mobil and Castrol products with good results.

The 10-9395 seems to be the more recent product. Maybe it's a "blend" that's cheaper to make while meating spec.

I don't see a lot of reason to use AC Delco, as long as it's Dextron VI. I would prefer Castrol or other performance-oriented brand.

If someone has a good definition of "synthetic" lubricant, do enlighten me.
