OK, but why would this get worse over time? I mean, how would the hole around the door lock get smaller? Not trying to be a smart a--, just trying to understand.
I guess I should just take the door panel off and give it a try. I need to replace the door lock switch anyway as it doesn't light up anymore and I could kill 2 birds with one stone.

If the door panel has moved a little and the hole is small it might be rubbing now. Just a thought.

Ah, good point. Didn't think of that.

Thanks.

drivers door latch

I have a month old '09 Panel and I could start it up with the remote but it wouldn't open up the drivers door, only the passenger side . I would have to reach over and pull up the knob . It's a good thing I didn't have smoothies like my '06 . I took it to the dealers and they knew right away that the latch had to be replaced . It is a problem with the '09s . Mine was the third one that they changed.

OK, I went out during lunch today and verified that the hole should be plenty big enough not to allow the door lock to drag. I wiggled it back and forth.
Now it makes me think that something is going to need to be repaired/replaced.

Worth a look. I'm not familiar with the workings inside the dorr. If there are any open linkages maybe lubing will be the solution. On my sportscar the unit is a sealed box and there is nothing to lube to fix a weak locking door.

This happened to my wife's 06. She took it in and all they did was open the hole up a bit and she hasn't has an issue since. Who know why, just happy its fixed!

In that case, vaseline to lube the hole might be worth a try.
