DTCs / fault codes
It's a device with a standard USB to Mini-USB cable that attaches it to the laptop...... The device is actually a RISC processor (micro computer using the Reduced Instruction Set Computing language) This particular unit comes with the "Trifecta tune" with which, I myself don't do the tuning, I only do the flash to the ECM. Vince at Trifecta does the individual tunes and they are specific to your cars VIN# and what you want to achieve. So it's probably not what you are thinking..... One where you change parameters yourself, like HP-tuners. (You can probably clear codes with HP-Tuners, too)
These types of options cost much more than a stand alone scanner. I was just pointing out that I can also clear codes with my setup. There are probably stand alone scanners that can hook up to your EEE-PC as well, for more options/enhanced display, but I'm not sure about that.
I used to do all this with a timing light, tachometer, and a vacuum gauge

I realized
1. do you read fault codes have the opportunity to remove them from the memory of the car.
2. Information about the fault codes displayed on an ordinary laptop - for this you have installed the special software. Laptop connects to the car with a special "cable / scanner."
If this is wrong - correct me.
if not difficult - a picture of your equipment, the name (model, brand).
And yet - is intended only for Chevrolet or the opportunity to work with other brands (Ford, Toyota, etc.)?
Ah, the good old days. (Ya forgot the Dwell meter.
)
Geg, take a look at this for what you are trying to do. I have no idea what you would have to pay to import it but it does a lot more than just read and clear codes.

If you decide on the ScanGauge, consider getting a extra cable. They are cheap and that way you can leave the guage permantly hooked up in your HHR and still have the ability to scan any other OBD vehicle by just unplugging the head unit and using the spare cable.
