Etching of paint on rocker panel and rear door rock guard

My HHR did not come with running boards when I purchased it off the lot. Once I joined HHR forums and read about the problem I contacted both the dealer and GM and was told it was not covered. I had the boards installed at the option price (which I would have happily paid had they been on the HHR to begin with) and $100 labor (these guys who install these are sometimes paid by flag hours and need to be compensated). I'm sure had the HHR come with the boards in the first place, this would have been built into the cost of the car anyway. I was told by my dealer to keep my receipt and that if some time in the future, GM decided to reimburse people for post delivery running boards because of this issue, I would need to provide it at that time.
That was many months ago now and I am glad that I have them added to my car and consider them "one of my aftermarket mods". Had I argued with them and GM about having this done, my vehicle would have continued to be damaged during negotiations and paying to have them installed gave me peace of mind.
The BBB is a great tool when used for many consumer matters, however, they are willing to challenge GM because they have "deep pockets" and would rather settle than pay litigation costs which would be far more costly than replacing the boards for free. That doesn't make it right...it's simple economics.

Now it's a GM conspiracy to silence you.
I agree lock the thread just to shut this moron up, I'm done fighting a useless and pointless battle with a fool.

Where did chevy admit you are entitled to free boards?
What settlement?
The TSB does not state there is a flaw nor does chevy admit to anything.
ptownhhr I did not see anyplace where you were called a "bad guy". I think people are tired of you saying the same thing over and over. But it does sound like you have something against chevy the way you keep saying the same thing over and over. I said my piece and will not make another comment on this post because I will not get into a verbal fight with you. Nor do I have anything against you. I would just like to see where you got this information.
