Excessive Fan Noise

I started hearing a high speed fan/blower like noise while on the highway traveling at speed over 40 mph. I thought this could be my coolant fan but I checked my coolant temp and it was below 200 degrees so normal range. The sound will remain on when off the accelerator but tends to turn off/die down as soon as I brake to lower speeds. Is this a problem? I feel like this sounds wasn’t always present when driving on the interstate before.

While travelling at the speed where you hear the noise, turn the wheel slightly to the left and then slightly to the right.

If the noise gets quieter when the wheel is turned in one direction but not in the other, then it's a bad hub. This only works for front hubs (which usually are the ones that go first).

Every time one of my hubs had worn and was creating noise this left/right test worked.

I read another thread something like this somewhere. Prolly Facebook. Turned out it was a broken fan blade. One guy even had ALL the blades missing, was causing his mysterious overheating.

Inspect your fan blade. Make sure the engine is cold so there’s no chance the fan will start.
