Exhaust

I'm not sure I have seen this question and I am to impatient to look, so I will just ask. I have a loud exhaust sound when I step on the skinny peddle HARD as in passing, it's not to bad at normal speeds. I know all you HHR guys are the greatest at finding the answers to all questions Newbe's ask. Any info on a fix and cost to do so will be HUGELY appreciated.

Flex pipe between manifold and convertor is cracked most likely.

You may be able to get a dealer to warranty it, if you are still in emission warranty (8/80)

A muffler shop should be able to weld in a replacement or you will have to change the cat. Convertor.

Any muff shop can replace just the flex portion

The prices of the parts + labor lately make it a toss up between "after market" cat pipe and repair flex part. On Ebay I see an after market cat for $165 shipped, the flex portion is $65 or so shipped, add labor comes out pretty close
