ext. warranty ?'s
hi all :)
so i am wanting to swap out the springs and sway bar and do a cat-back exhaust system, but i am wondering will this void my extended warranty? Or will they still honour the warranty if i bring this stuff to the dealership and let them install it? Because GM's "warranty" is driving me nuts, they always seem to find this fine print or back door which makes the warranty useless, feels like i wasted the money on it

Well, my recommendation would be to contact GM customer service and ask them for a ruling, in writing, on it. My guess would be that anything that you change out or modify that can be legitimately blamed for a warranty claim failure cause will then be your responsibility to repair. If it can't be honestly blamed for the failure the warranty should cover you. But that is only my opinion, GM's ruling (not the dealers) is what will prevail on a claim. Have you spoken with your dealership about it?
Changing the exhaust changes the powertrain, burn a valve because of it and the warranty won't pay, as a simple example, IMO.

The springs and sway bar, only thing that will change is the ride and handling. Worse case, if the rear shocks have an issue, well the altered suspension "could" be the reason. So don't expect to warranty the shocks.
Exhaust, well, that shouldn't affect anything as long as you have left all things cat forward alone. But if you did have a cat issue, if they wanted to nic pic.....
And don't have them install these things. You will pay way too much. Sway bar is a 10 minute install.

@skyline26, you will want to contact the company that holds the extended warranty you have on your HHR to get the specific information about adding modifications to the vehicle.
