Hey Mike!
Besides the difference in color, is there any benefit to nickel vs. zinc on the rotors you are selling?

Yes; Nickel plating wears longer and is shinier.

Zinc plating is dull and just keeps the rust at bay.

Also; Nickel plated versions take 2-3 weeks (special order), while we have the zinc rotors in stock here.

Hope it helps,

I just noticed this thread and had to comment. At about 6k, I had brake shimmy. The dealer told me the rotors needed to be cut, and since then the car is fine. But as others have asked, why so soon on a new car?? I heard that the brake rotors are thin and prone to warpage if you drive through a puddle when the brakes are hot. I do plan on upgrading to SoCal rotors, but first I want to take advantage of my warranty.

And speaking of warranty, is anybody else annoyed that the new 2007's have a much longer warranty then the 2006-and other than color options, the cars are identical. (5 year 100,000 miles compared to our 3 year 36,000 miles.)

As a 2007 owner, I'd have to say no, I'm not annoyed.

Had our rotors turned at 1629 miles. Fixed the shake/shimmy. BUT - the mechanic forgot to put the lower caliper bolt back in on the driver's side... Could have caused a serious accident. Luckily, I noticed the caliper binding against the rim while backing up a few days later. Scratched the heck out of the inside of a polished 17" wheel. Dealership backpedaled for days... Got me a new wheel, let me keep the old one, etc. Service has been excellent ever since... Think they don't want me to tell GM?? LOL...

I've been a member of Camaro/Firebird boards since 1998. Lemme tell you, it was a known defect of the 4th gen Fbodies for a long time that the rotors they put on them were crap. My 1995 Camaro and my 1998 Z28 have had to had the rotors turned/replaced several times. On my Z they had to be turned at 7K miles and replaced at 11K!
Even now, as I face the dreaded 60M service for my Z, one of the things I'm going to have to have replaced are the rotors AGAIN!
I'm a lifelong GM fan, but the rotors they put on some of their cars.... ugh!

I guess they must be trying to save money on the HHRs... not a good sign as Im looking to get an HHR soon...

machined rotors at 7600 miles

Hey all... coming home from Big Bear Lake Sunday night and going down the mountain experienced terrible vibration and rattling from front left brake. Pretty scary stuff when traveling down a mountain road in the dark!! Took to dealer next morning and they machined the rotors both front and back... Serviceman's comments are in the car and will post exactly....All seems fine now, but am not to eager to go back up to the mountains.

Happened Again

Brakes are inadequate... same thing, returning from mountain trip, front left rotor vibrating terribly, am disappointed that my car isn't engineered adequately enough for me to do what i bought car for... fun road trips, and fishing up in the mountains...really upset.
