I hope mine never go out on my 2010. I never would have bought it knowing about the petty omissions.

It isn't the labor that bothers me, I can definitely turn a wrench. It's the cost of parts.

 

If you replace the hubs. Notice that the passenger side one is about $50 cheaper than the drivers side, and normally in stock at a lot of local parts stores.

 

Seriously? I wonder why? Does the driver's side have a tendency to go out more, thus the demand for higher price?

 

My dealer said they are inter-changeable? left and right....

My car has been doing this lately. I just replaced one of them about 40k miles ago? WTH!

 

The passenger and driver's are exactly the same part. There is no excuse for stores charging more for one than the other, that is price gouging. They are really easy to replace, takes less than an hour a side. Try to buy a Timken or OEM unit as the off shore ones are not good. Timken units are the OEM units just in a Timken box, they buy from the OEM supplier. I've seen them on Amazon for around $100.

 

You can get the "cheapo" Chinese for like $12. I have a pair in the garage waiting for me, but I plan on using them for the last 50K of useful life (I plan on turning 200K next week), replaced both of OEMs at 100K with the $108 items.

 

I think you are talking about Struts, not Hubs. Everybody at parts stores find it odd that only one side is stocked, and that there is a price difference.

I guess they have to find special left handed welding robots for one side or the other!
