I'm replacing my daughter's 2011 HHR 2.2L engine (timing chain jumped causing engine damage) with a 2.2L from a cobalt.

The fuel rail on the old 2.2L (and on all HHR 2.2L engines I have seen) has a rectangular cross section:



The replacement engine has a circular cross-section fuel rail. The injector harness connector and the fuel line connector appear to be the same.


Should I switch the fuel rails, or is the Cobalt engine fuel rail going to work just fine?

I would change the fuel rail , flush it out and clean any debris out of it.

 

They’re different injectors; the HHR is FlexFuel, the Cobalt ain’t. You need to swap in your old injectors. Best way? IDK.

 

In that case, I need to order some Orings and other parts.

This is the Rock Auto 4-injector sealing kit listed for the HHR. I've never removed the injectors (or don't remember), so do these parts look right?

Forgot to add, those are GM genuine parts.

They are the parts , pull the injectors out with your HHR fuel rail, swap out o rings and insulator cups.
