Fuel System Troubleshooting Help Wanted

I'm working on my 2007 HHR LT, 2.4L with a no start issue.
I went from sputtering into the gas station when my HHR ran outta gas, got the tank filled and now it won't start up again, so I had to push it outta the gas station. Now my everyday driver is dead in the water. I'm looking for some pointers on troubleshooting the fuel system including any associated components. I have NO CEL on my dash for guidance either, so I presumed this to be a fuel system related problem

So far I've:
- Inspected relay/fuse and found both to be in working condition (I swapped relay with known working relay and visually confirmed fuse integrity)
- Confirmed audible fuel pump priming (not sure how else to test it)
- Tested fuel pressure on fuel rail and found I have no fuel pressure.
- Disconnected battery for over a day and tried again (as a last resort potshot)

Can the fuel pump fail while making audible priming sound?
What else on this fuel system can cause an interruption of fuel pressure?

BTW- I'm a long time reader and first time writer and I've referenced this forum for alot of my other HHR repairs and have found very knowledgeable members with great insight. I've also browsed around lots of other relatable threads for help but not sure how else to approach this. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

You tested the fuel pressure is it 55 to 65 psi? Seems the pump failed, at a bad time the tank is full!
Check all fuses and relays in the under hood fuse box. But be prepared to empty the tank.

to the forums!!

The pump may have sucked up some nasty stuff that was in the tank. Might have clogged the screen or filter in the tank. There is no external filter.

Zero fuel pressure on fuel rail.
I've been dreading dropping a couple hundred bucks for a new pump let alone lowering and opening a full tank too.

Other then the fuel rail, is there anyway other way to check pressure from fuel pump?
Can debris enter the tank and obstruct the pump?
Can any other components interrupt the fuel pressure? EVAP valve? Vapor canister? Filler pipe (roll over stop valve)?
Also, at what point does the fuel pressure sensor produce readings and let me know there's no pressure?

All feedback is welcomed and considered.

Sorry.
The pump part is not that expensive. I found one on Amazon prime for $43.

Not a bad job, just empty the fuel tank and drop it. I’ve changed a couple of fuel pumps in my driveway on jack stands .
