I was driving and heard a click it threw it into limp mode read the codes saying low fuel rail pressure and low fuel regulator pressure the car wont rev past 3000rpms and it wont go over 70mph the car will not go outta limp mode when turned on and off even when codes are erased it comes right back please help im stumped im hoping it isnt the mechanical fuel pump

 

You should not attempt to drive fast in limp mode. It's called limp mode for a reason.

 

I hAd to i was on leave driving from pa to oklahoma and it happened in missouri

 

Don't want to be late for the base. I am sure there would be hell to pay. Hopefully someone here can give you an idea.

Erasing Codes does NOT fix it. The underlying Problem will just come back. Erasing a code is not some magic fix all. You could do more Harm than good just erasing codes without Fixing the actual problem.

 

If the fuel rail pressure is low, wouldn't that be a fuel pump failure, or clogged filter (sock in tank)? I can't think of anything else that would cause that. Guess it could be a sensor failure. Anyone??????????

 

Fuel pump, get thee to a mechanic.

 

Since you have an SS, it might be the high-pressure fuel pump.

 

Which is listed as a covered by Powertrain warranty part..

 

with high probability: the fuel pump - clogged or broken.
is also likely: the fuel injectors - clogged.
unlikely, but it sometimes happens, one of the fuel injectors - the loss of electrical power.

All three cases are in need of professional action. You can not make repairs "on the knee."
Do not think about the loss of time. Professional will solve the problem for 2 - 6 hours. You risk a much greater losses if your HHR die on an empty road.
