Question: Did you have to drop the gas tank to get to or repair the rotted fuel line and clamps? I'm having the same issue with my 2006 HHR and I am being told that im going to need to drop the gas tank to repair the leak. Any help, advice, or instructions you can give will be helpful. Thanks!

No , but it your choice to use fuel injection line to replace were it roted .. Use a pipe cutter to cut it out as long got good metal to flare and double clamp it.. It been a year and half no leak .. Or go the expensive rout and replace with metal

Here is link that describes replacing the fuel pump, but also touches on removing the tank in case you need to do that - https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...acement-36541/

My HHR started leaking today and I replaced a 1 foot section of both lines at the clamp that holds them secure to the body. I used unions and steel line, it took me about an hour and half to complete the repair. The rest of the lines are in surprisingly good shape, so I just repaired the damaged section, cutting out the rusted section. It's back running as good as ever for about $30 and my time.

I get to do this on the '07.

Smelled gas as I walked by the back of it, but wrote it off to being fairly near a gas station.
Got back here and still smelled gas, quick look underneath, and there it is. Drip, drip, drip. Same location as the pics show.

Bought some 3/8" steel line and a couple compression connectors for repair.
Got it up on the ramps. looks like I get to do the return line also.

So, it be sitting there waiting until the parts store opens tomorrow.

2009 HHR leaking

Hey Guys
new here but far from new in regards to working on my sister's HHR. She now has this same leak so I started wondering why would anyone purchase this POS vehicle? The whole thing is cheaply made. I don't normally care about the Ford/Chevy fights but ever car she's owned happens to have been Chevy and everyone is crap.my wife and I have owned Ford/Mazdas and have our share of issues but nothing like the crap I have to repair on Chevy's. Freaking sick of it.

Great! It's not yours! Quit your griping.

You used your intro post to say that? In a thread that started 3-4 years ago.

They where among the cheapest cars to buy, maybe that explains why they are cheaply made. Pay $1000 more for a Ford, then die from the tires exploding.
