Question Gauges acting strange

What's up everyone; my first post! I have a 2008 LT1 2.4l. A few months ago I noticed all my gauges were reading about 25% higher than I knew they actually were. 1/2 a tank of gas when I knew I only had 1/4. etc... After turning it off once it returned to normal. Yesterday, after coming back from a week vacation, I started the car for the first time and the speedo didn't work, the fuel and temp were maxed and the tach was 1000 too high. After a short drive and turning it on and off a few times it all returned to normal. Anyone ever heard of this or think it's a major problem?

The gauges are electronic -- mechanical gauges are long gone. Most likely there's either a problem with the board in the cluster or a something's up deeper in the system (BCM, etc.). If it was just one gauge (say, fuel gauge) then you probably would have a problem with that one particular system.

I've noticed that if I stall my car and then restart it,the gas gauge reads much lower than before I stalled it.Once I shut the car off and restart it normally,it's fine.Aren't modern electronics wonderful?

Check the fuses, make sure they are all seated by pressing them down/in. I am talking about the ones under the hood.

I had that exact symptom on my 2007. It happened when it was about three or four months old, only happened one time, and has never recurred. Since I'm down to only months left on the warrantee, I'm not sure if I want to see it happen again, or?????

If you want it fixed go to the dealer and have this done.

I took it into the dealer today, as it had done it a second time, and gave him the TSB you referenced. They said it was for a 2008 not a 2007, and the 2007 can not be reprogramed. They ordered a new cluster, should be in tomorrow. I guess all they program is the mileage into the odometer.

Ask them how to remove the mileage on the odometer.

The new cluster went in today. All seems well, so far. It only took about 35 minutes or so for them to replace it, must not be that difficult, if you know how.
