Gauges not working 2011

Any updates or new found remedies for gauges not working? The instrument cluster fuse is not blown. When I insert the key a symbol w/ a Lock? and the malfunction symbol do come on, when the engine is started those lights go off and no other lights ever show up. The gauges don't move at all. It has been suggested I take the car to a electrical mechanic...ouch.....the diagnostic is 110. Anyone had this type of repair?

Welcome
After a quick look at the wiring schematic, you may need to check some additional fuses. The instrument panel gets it's feed data from the ECM. Power comes from 2 sources. You probably checked the fuse labeled "cluster". Try checking fuse # 10,16 .

Welcome to the site, X2 I also suggest checking the fuse box under the hood, make sure the halves are tightly bolted together.
And check the ground wires for loose or corrosion connections

Is this something new? Has anybody done any work on the car? I don't think it has anything to do with fuses, more likely the CANBUS, or the connector.

Firemangeorge, You are right, I did only check one fuse, 62-Instrument panel. I will check the other's first thing in the morn!. I have NO experience with car repair..but, I can follow directions pretty well. :)

Oldblue, I did watch a video of a man who tightened the bolts on the under hood fuse box and his problem was solved. I don't think that it mine. It seemed pretty tight, but then I again I don't have the proper tools to check. Wouldn't hurt to borrow some from a neighbor. lol. Where are the ground wires I might want to check?

donbrew, . I had bought the car for my daughter a year ago and it seemed to stop w/ in a few days after an IDIOT guy w/ Geico Road Service rattled around under the hood for 15 minutes pretending to jump the car battery. NOT JOKING. My daughter had to have the car towed home..Thank god a neighbor knew where the battery was a jumped the car. Long story short...I think the yahoo who pretended to jump the car may have contributed..mabe not...The gauges stopped working w/ in the week. Then worked again a few months...then stopped completely.

Thank you for your help and suggestions!

Unless you are a wiring expert you are going to have to pay. It was the jump start that fried things, hard to tell what he did. Did the power steering still work afterward? Worst case is the ECM or TCM or BCM got fried; best case he just jiggled some connectors loose.

I can't get to my resources right now, maybe I can find something tomorrow.
