Angry ghost headlights

OK this may have been addressed already if so I will apologize now....I seem to have a ghost in my 06 hhr lt for no apparent reason the lights come on all by themselves in the middle of the night. Tonight it happened and I was setting here and saw them come on went out and could not get them to shut off....I had to start the car and then turn them on and off again to get them off. I am pretty pissed when I go out and the battery is dead from this crap. Has anyone else had this issue and if so what was the fix? Please help as I need a dependable vehicle cant be dead in the water all the time. HELP me please!

First I'd pop the cover on the fuse/relay block under the hood and make sure everything is seated firmly. Also check for moisture under the cover like condensation, things loosening up in that fuse block cause all sorts of odd little issues. If its still acting like a mobile haunted house, have the dealer take a look.

Not much more that you can do until Monday, I'm thinking you may have an issue with the headlight switch itself. I've looked through the service manual, and the trouble shooting sections, and I've got nothing for you I'm afraid. Keep us posted on the dealer's findings if you would.

I will be sure and post the findings on here so everyone has access to the information....it only does it at night so I am inclined to believe it has to do with the photo cell for the automatic lights. Thanks for all the effort to all of you I really appreciate it!

just for kicks try wiggling the headlamp switch see if you can get it to happen. other than the switch my guess it would be maybe a body controler problem.

The photocell can't turn the lights on without accessory power. Could be a defective headlight relay.
