Hey guys,

Thanks for all of the suggestions and areas to check. I think I will get the block tester since I don't have any heater core issues that I can tell. Also, No slime residue on the window and no smoke inside the cabin. Living in Michigan I've been running the heat daily with temps in the teens lately so it's on all of the time with no apparent issues.

Oil seems to be fine from an independent lab result showing no coolant properties in the oil.

Will also pull the plugs and see what they look like. Question, will it most likely be just one that looks "clean" or what exactly am I looking for?

thanks again everyone! Will update after trying a few of these ideas.

I considered the water pump too, but that much coolant out the weep hole seems unlikely, but then again like you said dribbles out and steams off going down the highway. I will take a look at that this weekend too. Thanks!

One thing I forgot to mention...The readout for coolant temp has always been about 189 degrees. Since this problem started the temp readout is about 10 degrees higher or 196-199 when traveling on the highway. It will go to 202 if I'm at idle for ten minutes or so. I would suspect this with disappearing coolant issues but thought I'd add it to the discussion.

Thanks,

LOL - still not fixed yet - I've been waiting for warmer weather to install the new core, but now it's warmer,,,,,,,,,, do I really miss the heater?

Coolant temp does not tell you ANYTHING about coolant level. If the system is empty the temp will read the air temp inside the t-stat housing, usually around 190F.
