Great... Power Steering Out at 13,000 Miles?
Replaced
I almost forgot to post a follow up - it did turn out to be the electric assist motor for the power steering, and it was replaced and covered under warranty. As the service manager was checking in the car, I mentioned reading online about the problem with those motors, and the Canadian recall too.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
i had this problem before when I turn to any direction fast, when the car is not moving.
I went to electrician and he took a lot of money but the only thing he did, he replaced the main fuse in the fuse box in the hood,
and cleaned the connector that connect the power steering motor inside the car under the steering wheel. (it took him 5 minutes).
trust me it will work.

Try to break the habit of turning the wheel when you're not moving anasbio, this is called "dry steering" and it produces a lot of stress on the components including the electric assist motor. If you stress the motor long enough it will overheat and either blow the fuse or fail completely from heat buildup. It sounds like you blew the fuse before the motor failed, that's what is supposed to happen, next time you might not be so lucky.
@Tom Terrific, I can understand how frustrating this type of thing can be. Have you contacted your local Chevrolet dealership to get their input on this?
