GRR!!! stupid tire monitor system!

Is there any simple way just to eliminate the tire monitor system? my left front stopped reading twice now in a month.. dealer reset it once...

girlfriends gmc Denali truck has had nothing but problems with her tpms since 2007 and all the dealer does is reset it... they seem to be very anti "REPLACING" around here haha

so i figured i am the kind who checks my own pressures anyways compared to the monitor so can i just eliminate it?

sure there isnt but thought i would ask. Thanx

Having an 06 HHR, I don't know much about the TPMS on the HHR. Is there no way of just simply turning it off?

Yes, I know it's in a totally different league, but my MIL's Cayenne, the TPMS can be turned off through the on board computer, which I have done due to them never being anywhere near accurate.

Thank your government for forcing the TPMS. It is a result of all of the idiots who can't manage to keep their tires inflated properly. The batteries are only good for 5-7 years in each of the sensors. For the most part they are trouble free. Some times resetting them can help, you may need a new sensor if one of them doesn't read.

You need a new sensor. I went through this with 3 of the original sensors on mine. Luckily my dealer replaced them for me and no problems since (it's been close to a year now). I found it helpful to snap a cell phone pic of the dropped sensor readings. The dealer didn't even question replacement after I showed it to them.

my right front keeps acting up and the dealer just resets it. I took it to another dealer the last time it did it and they just reset it as well. I hate the damn thing.

Take a pic of dash during the problem and push them to replace it. They should. Mine would fail and then later come back on its own. After showing them the pic of how it was failing, it was replaced. I can't see why after your history the dealer just wouldn't replace the thing.

Federal law requires TPMS and turning it off would be a violation of federal law. The Tire Pressure Monitor system was implemented to meet FMVSS 139 and cannot be removed or disabled per GM.

Then I guess they really just stink. I haven't been 100% pleased with my dealer, but they have been generally reasonable. I can't believe yours won't replace it already.

X2. Just like disabling your airbags or removing your seat belts. I believe either starting this year in September or next year; emissions counties here in Texas will inspect the TPMS on equip vehicles when they do an inspection. Don't you just love big govt.
