I Am also the owner of a 2009 HHR and am having problems with my clutch you also have to pump it before you can get it into gear sometimes not all the times but sometimes and when I turn my bright lights on there's nothing there no light at all and would love it if anyone having any knowledge on what I should and could do before I send this car, wherever, I sure would appreciate it. I was really excited when I first got the car because it had such low mileage less than $82,000 and the paint job is in very well very good condition and the seats are not torn maybe in a couple spots a little stained but other than that and it's got so much room but if I can't solve this problem with this clutch I can't use this car and my air does not blow out cold. Suggestions anyone??

Bleed the clutch. Any fluid leaking? Slave cylinders are problematic.

 

The shifter cables may need adjustment.
