Headlight/HID problems

I installed 35w DDM tuning lights this weekend. Had to take apart the supplied factory plug because the wires weren't configured right to make the hi and low work properly, which happens a lot. I noticed after installing that when I hit a bump the lights seem to blink off for a second. This morning I hit a big bump and they shut off for a second and so did the whole car and I had to pull off, kill the car, and crank it back up. After it restarted a yellow car symbol with a lock through it appeared on the dash. What happened?? Bad connection maybe to my stock plug?

most likely, time to spend some time to test and tighten any connections that were involved in the light connection and any grounds ensure these are clean and tight

That light means that the Security was enabled, same thing happens if the battery dies on you. I would be guessing a ground wire got knocked loose or bypassed.

Over the years I have found that it is NEVER a good idea to disassemble either or both sides of a factory assembled electrical connector. It is way, way better to buy the correct one you need then cut and reassemble the wires with some good heat shrink tubing. This is done AFTER disconnecting the battery.

Generally what happens is either the pin has it's little barb flattened so it does not sit tightly in the connector or the female pin gets stretched and the male pin had way too much clearance to get a good connection.

I disassembled the HID plug not my factory harness. I didn't mess with anything factory. I'd assume a bad ground or my connection with the metal prongs aren't secure

Found the problem in the power wire attached under the hood to the power terminal. The fuse box cover along with the red terminal cover seemed to be putting a strain on the connection and if I tapped it the whole car would shut down LOL routed away from fuse box and seems to work well now. Thanks for the help

I was going to say check all your wiring. My DDM kit has been in for years and never a flicker or misfire. Mine was all plug and play.

Well mine would have been if Ida known the passenger headlight plug would fit the blinker bulb all this could have been avoided. It threw a hyper flash to the system and wouldn't let any of the lights work. At least now I know for next time.
