Maybe someday I'll get around to putting the key fob back together or get another one... Right now, it is more important to the the new fruit trees planted before the weather gets really hot.
Thank you for the additional information about your HHR and the key fob. I completely see where you are coming from.

I wish you the best with getting fruit trees planted.

Please, don't hesitate to contact me in the future.

Update: Thoroughly cleaned the motherboard and inside of buttons with isopropyl alcohol. I made sure (with a strong magnifying glass) that there was no solder or flux on any of the circuits. I put the battery back in the motherboard and set it aside while I cleaned the inside of the case. A minute later, I heard the horn start beeping on the car. I removed the battery from the motherboard and no beep. I am pretty sure the key fob has issues. Anybody have an extra key fob (2008 without remote start) that they would like to sell???

Check e-bay for a spare key fob, they are fairly plentiful, but remember you'll have to take it and your HHR to the dealer for programming in order for it to work.

It does sound like you have a fob that's lost its marbles for the lack of a better term, very odd, but not out of the realm of possibility.

I know this subject is a few year old, but has a resolution been found for this problem?
I have a key fob that as soon as I put a battery in, the hhr alarm goes off. I have 2 key fobs, but the other one doesn't have this issue, and is working fine.

I can have just the circuit board in my hand, and as soon as the battery goes in, the alarm goes off. Nothing else is touching it, causing it to go off, or be triggered.

Thanks

Probably a foreign substance across the contacts.

Those gold bits that look like Chinese characters are + & - wires. If anything is causing a bridge things will get activated.
