Some people are never happy and will never be happy - and it's too bad you didn't bother to actually read the comments and suggestions.

Oh, and exactly where did anyone of us say he was "stupid for buying a used piece of junk"? Shame on you for telling him that.

Since he only came here to whine and complain ...................... bye.

I don’t have a ton of cash either, purchased Oldblue at 34,000 miles, sold it at 290,000 miles.
I bought the BlackSwan at 109,000 miles, why ? , because, I’m 65 years old and in a fixed pension!
Disabled, yes , similar to your issues.
How do you know what the previous owners did to the HHR before you bought it?
Did you pull the front cover and valve cover and inspect the timing chain?
Did you research and determine the front guide is a possible weak link?
We have seen many a member sign in just to vent, I get that , but the statement still applies “buyer beware”

And then there are others who could get a newer car but don't BECAUSE their HHR is so reliable. Mine is at 262K miles and it has never let me down. Every mass-produced car is going to have a few mishaps. Buying used you should have been a little more wary, especially given your health and financial issues. Also, let's not forget the fact that YOU drove it around for two whole years without incident.

This was a well-maintained car. oil was changed regularly and was not mistreated. sorry, I am not rich to go out and buy a brand new car. Sometimes you do what you have to do. this motor I found out has an issue with the timing chains going out. should have investigated a little sooner but it is what it is. When you don't know the other person's options he has to take you, judge!! so you all can well fill in the blanks.
No one here told you that you did wrong or are stupid. What you were told was that it's a used car and you really have no recourse unless some sort of extended warranty was purchased or provided.

An how do you know the car was not mistreated before you bought it?

I have never bought a brand new car myself.

As said, none of us work for Chevy. We're just HHR owners like you. You're pissed and I get why. But your anger is being misdirected to the wrong group of people.

Ok, ok, enough. I’m sure the man feels enough pain, and I would pay for the repairs or do them for free if he lived closer to the border. I’m that kinda guy.
So, let’s close this .
Sir , our sincere apologies for your situation in life.
