HHR rejected by emissions station

I got the car tested again Friday and the same thing happened. The printout basically said the same thing. I got an extension to April 6. If it doesn't pass the third time I can get a waver if I spend at least $450 for repairs.

If we tell you what needs to be fixed can you fix it yourself? If you can't this whole thread is futile. Take it to somebody that can.
The emissions testing station depends on the OBD testing done by the car's computer. The O2 sensor test is supposed to run continuously. The EVAP test runs after all other testing has completed and passed. The EVAP testing can take a couple of weeks to run. Most states allow the EVAP test to be incomplete.
The guy that read your codes gave you an I/M readiness report when he said "Two flashing icons showed up and he said they had to do with the O2 sensor and EVAP system." What we need to know is exactly what "had to do with" means, there must have been code numbers.
My wild guess is that one of the O2 sensors needs replacing. That takes about 1 hour labor a around $30 in parts (just guessing).
Normally, if a shop charges a diagnostic fee they waive it if they do the repairs, go elsewhere if they don't; just ask if they do. They charge the fee to run "I'll do it myself" people away.

There's over 195,000 miles on it. I recently bought it. Last week I drove it an average of 20 miles per day. I went to the gas station where I bought the car and the mechanic checked it with an OBD2 tester and it said no codes. The mechanic said there's nothing wrong with it. I was going to drive it everyday for a week again and then have it tested again. I could go back to the Advance Auto store and have it tested again to see if the O2 sensor and EVAP icons are displayed again. I might have to spend $450 on repairs and/or maintenance to get a waver from the MVA.
