HHR rejected by emissions station
I take my cars for a good hour run on the highway. Get off from time to time and drive a few blocks around park turn off, wait a few then start and get back on the highway.... You have to turn off the car approximately 5 times during your trip so it "cycles" everything like a learning mode. The highway gets the systems hot ( coolant, 02 sensors, cats, and more ) so they reset. I learned this from my son n law who works in automotive from his tech at the shop. Most shops will check the systems ready before the re-inspection.. if not a local auto parts store can for free
I had the HHR tested a third time and it basically said the same thing. Its at a CERF now and they're going to look at it. If I pay at least $450 for repairs I should be able to get a waiver if it doesn't pass the fourth time.
I took the HHR to a Certified Emissions Repair Facility (CERF) listed on a pdf file that I downloaded from the MVA website. They replaced the catalytic converter and charged me more that $1400. Today I took the HHR to get it tested again and it failed the fourth time, but I was able to get a waiver which is good until March 2024. Is it possible that the SVC tire monitor system is making it fail?
