High Idle

Back on the 14th on my way to work my engine decided it had had enough. I ended up with a whole in the engine block. So I called AAA and they towed it to a local shop. $1600 later I have a new block installed. The problem they are having now is with the car idling to high. The tech guy told me the car is idling at 2500 rpms. The shop is telling me that the problem is with the ecu sending it the signal. Now typically I would think of a vacuum leak somewhere, but he swears he's looked up and down several times looking for one. I just don't see how the ecu was fine and now all of a sudden it's broke, and that's the only problem. I am going to go by this evening on my way home from work. I've read a lot of things saying to check the throttle body gasket and even to pull the sensor out of it and see if that sends the idle back down does any one have any others ideas of things to check?

Was told that it appeared it had spun a bearing. Couldn't really give me a reason why though.

After checking it out with a mechanic buddy of mine we could not find any links. One thing that they told me when we got there was that when they plugged a scanner into the ecu to troubleshoot it read that the car was an automatic which GM told them was a red flag since I have a standard. So after checking it out and getting them to gaurantee that a new ecu would fix it or I wasn't going to pay for it I gave them the go ahead. They dropped it off at the dealership the next day. They installed the new ecu and flashed it to the car. Now runs just fine other than the fact that I now have a clutch problem from all this.

high idling hhr

Right now, I 'm looking at the same thing, high idle problem. I had the air filter plenum off to install new spark plugs, and forgot to plug in the map sensor before starting the car. I disconnected the battery, in an hour or so, I'll reconnect to see if it reset anything. Think it ll help? Any suggestions?

You may have to cycle it a few times...... If it's all back connected properly, several cycles of driving it may clear the code. (start/drive a few miles/shut off.... repeat)
