High idle and P0507 after cleaning throttle

High idle and P0507 after cleaning throttle
Ive seen many post on this.I own a 2006 hhr 2.4 5 speed.I had a high idle (2500 rpm) after cleaning throttle body along with code P0507.I did manually open the throttle so i freaked out thinking i had broke it.I found out that you need to drive it between 250 to 500 miles in order for it to relearn idle.During that time rpms will rise and lower and act erratic,no worries it will sort itself out.

That happened just because you cleaned the TB?
I plan to do that soon (made a huge difference in my Mustang) and I do it with all used cars I buy.
Not clear on why it would have to "relearn" idle if you just cleaned it.

If you move the throttle plate then the ECM needs to relearn, I always disconnect battery and never move the throttle plate as that can strip the plastic gears out of the throttle body.
I just remove the four bolts lift the throttle body, I don't disconnect the harness and simply spray the throttle plate on both sides, then reassemble, so far after 7 years and 165,000 miles of ownership and five or six cleanings no relearn required

When you think about it, after 5 years, we've seen pretty much everything that can go wrong with an HHR and what caused the problem and in my case what fixed it! And avoided additional compound problems!

That seems to be a 2006 thing. And/or moving the butterfly while the system is energized.
I never experienced the phenomenon in a 2008 2.2L or a 2011 2.2L.
P0507 just means the idle is 100RPM higher than it should be for some unidentified reason.
The "book" says relearning is accomplished by idling 3 minutes.
I usually stick my finger down the throat and hold the butterfly open with a screwdriver handle. I don't always remember to disconnect the electrical.
Maybe it has to do with waiting entirely too long to inspect the TB and the throttle sets itself too high; then it gets cleaned and can settle where it should be. I have not had a TB that dirty since my dad's 1966 Chrysler Newport wouldn't start to get me home from the 1969 prom (the butterfly was stuck in full choke, needed a hammer).
