Problems/Service/RepairsIf you have a problem with your HHR, want a tip on repairing or performing a particular service to you HHR here is the place to post!
Ive seen many post on this.I own a 2006 hhr 2.4 5 speed.I had a high idle (2500 rpm) after cleaning throttle body along with code P0507.I did manually open the throttle so i freaked out thinking i had broke it.I found out that you need to drive it between 250 to 500 miles in order for it to relearn idle.During that time rpms will rise and lower and act erratic,no worries it will sort itself out.
My idle did eventually turn back to "normal" one day, but seems like no mechanic and some Chevy dealers know this.I had an honest mechanic who actually gave me my money back after he cleaned the throttle while doing other work on my HHR. I brought the car back to him 2 or 3 times with no change after him cleaning and trying to adjust the idle.I was out of my state when this happened, but the mechanic was highly recommended and I had used him in the past on my winter trips down south I found the solution to my HHR problems though....I sold it and bought a late model Acura. The HHR had 287,000 miles on it and was still running. I changed the clutch at 237,000 miles. I used nothing but synthetic oil in all my oil changes...that Eco engine is a work horse. When I bought my HHR I bought the top of the line as available..But typical GM, many common sense options were just not available. I know 10 years from now my 2006 HHR will be a classic...and will probably wish I had kept it...Good Luck to all...
