Horn honks when I use the key

My FOB is dead. I have been using the key to unlock the car and when I do the horn beeps until I put the key in the ignition. I looked through the DIC to see if there was an option to solve this but I did not see one. Any Ideas how to make it stop?

Mine did the same thing and the only way I got it to stop was a new FOB.

lock your door with the key then open it with the key and it will not sound the alarm.

I posted this a couple years ago...

Yeah...I think that's kinda a dumb feature... I remember that happening when I looked at one back in '06 the dealer was explaining on how it would do that when I went out and unlocked it since he didn't have the FOB on it...

Same thing happens with my Trans Am, if the Alarm is active and I use the key to manually get in, the Alarm does go off but when the ign. key is turned on, it stops

Tom,

That's what I read. One problem is you must lock all doors manually. If you lock them with the auto lock button, unlock the drivers manually to exit the vehicle and use the key to lock. The alarm will still go off.

No longer an issue as I re-soldered my battery connections on the FOB.

But, there still should be a way to turn off the security feature.
