How dire is replacing the O2 sensor? (please read)
I have a 2006 with the 2.4. As has been said, the heater works for a short time until the exhaust heats up. Mine will occasionally set that code but when checked, it is not active. Clear it and it doesn't come back. The problem is in the program on the 2006 in the way they set up the time that the computer looks for certain parameters. It's like the remote start problem on 2006 models where they didn't allow enough time for the oil pressure to build up, especially in the winter with the defroster on or in the summer with the air conditioner turned on. Both those conditions have the ac compressor running which slows the engine down. It will start with the remote and immediately shut off.
Don't be too surprised if it still sets the error code after you change the oxygen sensor.
I got the service bulletin from ALLDATA. The dealer I bought my car from said it didn't exist but another dealer found it. I should have kept that number.

I forgot to mention because I just plain forgot. When I originally scanned the codes at Advanced Auto, I got those two codes but also a "pending" P0138. When they scanned me again at Monro, they didn't take note of that one.
I've read that the 138 is the downstream O2 sensor, so am I probably gonna have to replace both?

That particular pending code is not uncommon with the heater out on the primary O2. It is most likely the result of the rich condition I described earlier in the thread. For now I wouldn't worry. Just replace the primary and go from there. These typically do not fail in pairs unless there is oil or water contamination making it into the exhaust system (I do not believe that to be your issue).
