I don't have the tool to remove the key lock nut

I was about to swap winter tires for summer tires from a used HHR I just bought but there is a key lock nut. I saw video about using a hammer and socket... can I just go to my nearest auto store and buy the tool, is it a universal tool? I never had to deal with a key lock nut before.

Look in the glovebox or by the spare tire. That's where people normally store the special "socket" for locking lug nuts.

Tire shops should have universal keys. Call one up and see if they can help you.

Contact the previous owner, ask if they still have it?

Do you have a picture of the locking lug?

Pounding on a socket will work with some, won't with others.

The special socket was in the glove box. Perfect! Thanks for all answers and help.

That was my suggestion! Look in the glove box or the bins behind the rear seats.
you beat me to it, glad you found the key!
