When we were stationed in Iceland with the Air Force we saw this problem all the time. There were constant high winds and snow would blow in the car every time you opened a door. When the sun came up during the day, the snow would melt and the windows would steam up. When I got in the car after work both the inside and outside windows had to be scraped.

The solution was to leave a window open a small amount so that the inside would not get so warm to steam the windows. If you drive a good distance with the heat and/or defroster on, the moisture will usually dry. You might consider installing window visors or whatever those plastic things are called.

Went out last week to check the carpet again. Both the driver and passenger sides are wet. Vacuumed standing water and put in a heater and fan to dry out. The driver side I coud see having water, due to snow. But the passenger side, no one sits over there. I called my salesman and told him about the problem. Naturallly, he said to bring it in to have looked at. I think I bought my car from the only dealership in my area that does not give loaner cars. I cannot get one, so I told him I would have to wait till spring to have looked at, so I could get my other car out of storage so I can get back and forth to work. He basically said, see you in the spring.

Stu....

Not that they will do anything but, I would call Chevy Customer Service (phone number is in the back of the Owners Book). Explain your situation about the need for transportation, to and from work, AND you are concerned about the problem escalating beyond possible repair (because of the continual snow now, and rain in the spring). Indicate you want the car fixed but you WILL NEED a transportation vehicle. The Customer Service Rep.'s can approve the need for a rental, if they escalate your problem to the next level.......and it's worth an effort.

Absolutely indicate that you do not want to return to the dealer for the same repair. It must be correctly repaired the first time OR you will need to go through this "routine" again.

Sounds like it could also be a malfunctioning A/C compressor with the MPG issues you're complaining about. The compressor kicks on in defrost mode to remove excess moisture from the air. It could be broken and causing excessive drag on the engine, too.
