just apply the tape to the clip extensions on the chrome piece, it will snug it in place.

our 08 SS has had rattles since the day we bought it, we keep taking it in, one bad one was in the pillar on the drivers side, and the hatch, finally they got those 2 fixed but every time we go in there seems to be more when we come out, never had a noise from the sunroof last time it was in the said there were loose rivets there that they fixed now it rattles, so now we have a rattle in the stereo area, the little cubby hole in front of the gear shift, the passengers side has a rattle havn't determined where yet, the sunroof rattles, and the backseat my oldest daughter said there are rattles where the seatbelts are, however i am scared if i take it in again there will be more. it just pisses me off they can't fix it proper and create more when they touch it. I will probably take it back soon here, and hope we dont get more out of it again.

Great thread! Had similar sounds coming from the center console and was ready yank things apart and apply tape, goo, and all the other suggestions made here. Reached down to start working and discovered that the chrome ring around the shifter was about 1/16" inch out of position. Pressed it back into place - problem solved. Man, I'm an idiot for sweating this for two weeks. Thanks!

When it comes to noises most are easy to address once you find them. It is just a pain to find them.

Threads like this have help give many the ability to know where to look.
