Arrow Jaws.. chewing up light fixture

OK so I don't know the right name for this part.
Passenger side rear, turn signal bulb holder assembly.

I replaced bulbs several times (TG it's the rear). The last time I had to replace the whole assembly and put new bulb in because the glass was badly chipped.
Yesterday, the bulb blew again (profanity) and the new assembly looks like the one I threw out. Chipped out. The bulb was dangling! It was tight when I put it in there. Had a brief moment of thinking I never replaced it - but I did.

Need to get this thing into the dealership to get my replaced ignition switch replaced (it went sitting still TG, but I had to have it towed), but just wondering if anyone else had this happen.
Thought about just putting a bulb in and packing it with flammable items..but I guess that's not the answer.
Thanks for any info..

If someone were to put the wrong bulb in, it could melt the plastic. I think that melting is what you were saying.

They don't just fall out, either something is broken or operator error.

As Donbrew mentioned - hopefully you were using the right bulb: Rear Turn Signal/Tail Light/Stop Light Bulb Size: 3057LL (LL designating Long Life - basic bulb = 3057).

the incorrect bulb would result in this manner! as it would be very hot and melt the socket and light assembly

Just a thought........

(for members who have replaced a tail light bulb)...Is there a "gasket" around the tail light bulb like the headlight? Because you have replaced so many maybe a gasket is stuck to the bulb receptacle and is preventing the new bulb from being inserted correctly.

Otherwise, if I understand you correctly, you also replaced the receptacle......hopefully with the correct one. So the new receptacle twists and locks in correctly? Then maybe you do have the wrong bulb and it is melting the plastic receptacle because of higher "draw"?????
