I jump started the battery wrong and ended up blowing my power steering fuse and then realized the radio wasn't working... Checked fuses and found the radio one also blown..replaced it but radio still not working ...???

 

Maybe some other members can help out but if its the factory radio the car may have to re recognize the radio. Just a guess. Use tje search tool there are threads on here on how to do that.

Stating the year, model and which audio system you have would help.
On some, there is more than one fuse for the audio system. One's with the amp should have a separate fuse.
If you replaced the blown fuse, did you check with a multi-meter to see if there is voltage incoming to that fuse ?

I'll let you determine how relevant my situation is to yours:

I installed an aftermarket sound system. When I jumped the car, my radio also did not work. The stereo shop showed me a pin hole reset on the face of the unit which did restore all the functions, but to their original factory defaults. Shop said I was lucky that I did not fry the radio since this can be common when jump starting. The solution to prevent the radio from needing a reset or burning out is to TURN IT OFF BEFORE CONNECTING JUMPER CABLES.

But shouldn't you turn off all power draining items when attempting a jump start??

 

No to be an ass or belittle anyone, but how do you jump it wrong? I don't get it. To me it's quite obvious how to jump it. Jumped mine several times and have given jumps. Never ever had a problem. I am very curious how you do it wrong. I've seen many many coments about doing it wrong.

The only thing I do differently then spec is, I do not use the marked ground connection. On the 2006 2.4L its a nut on the strut. I find that is extremely difficult to get a cable on that. (With a good connection.) I use the jaunty bit of engine block metal near the oil filter. Makes good, easy, solid negative connection.

The main positive is under the red cap with a big plus on it. So, how do people get it wrong?

Again, please don't take offence, I just would like to understand.

BTW:

P.S. Also, I remember the good old days when there were metal bumpers. In a pinch, like a car in a driveway, touching bumpers, then lengthening the jumper cable by connecting them together on the positives. Would take a bit longer to jump because not that great of a connection but would get us out of a jam. Those days are certainly gone.

Oh, hmmm, I C. But then you have to take off the fuse cover to get to that secondary terminal people think is negative. Also, I would think there would be quite an indication of a dead short, like a nice spark. IDK, never tried it, lol.

It's a black box under the hood with a red terminal. What could it possibly be except a battery?
