I popped mine open and it does only light up when a button is pushed. There is always the possibility that ours function differently than one another. But If they are the same then your light should not be lit all the time.

 

That's interesting! I will check it out. I was only noticiing the red light when I put the battery back in. I will check it out and see if it also lights up when the buttons are pushed. thanks!

 

sounds like a short due to water damage, give the blow dryer trick a shot , we'll keep our fingers crossed for you, but it seems to have drowned a wet death!

 

thank you thank you thank you 07azhhr! I'm so happy that you said it also lights up with the buttons because after reading that I decided to check it out again. It was apart so I used a tiny screwdriver on the contacts and sure enough the light lit up. I then went and tried it out and the remote is now working! I was ready to toss it out too! Not sure why it is working now but it doesn't matter. Also the check engine light went off so this is a great day! (emission solenoid has a problem but I haven't been able to get underneath the car because of the snow and now all the rain)

 

It probably finished drying out lol. Glad to hear it is working.
