That will fix it. You can use a little contact cleaner an clean the metal contacts then it will be all ready for the new pad.

 

What kind of contact cleaner? What are some brands? Can you get it at the parts store? I bought some contact cleaner to clean out the switch on my Telecaster a few years ago. Maybe I can use it.

 

You could use rubbing alcohol.

 

I had 1 button on my key fob that didn't work, I put a piece of aluminum foil under that button. It works, now. I know I'm late to this discussion, but if it helps anyone else with this same issue, good deal.

Yeah, that tip about the tin foil was also mentioned in post no. 2 above back in 2015 - but like they said, it's temporary at best. Now that replacement cases and button replacements are available at very low cost, they are a longer lasting solution.

 

I have 2 wall mounted remote controlled ceiling fan switches that I repaired the same way 5 years ago. The foil from a cigarette pack used to work.
