Keys left in ignition or lights on chime not working

As a new member and HHR owner I appreciate any guidance I can get. The warning chimes don't work any ideas or things I can check on my own? It is a used 2007 2.2 auto.,

also is the outside temperature supposed to be displayed in the dash? I see 3 blanks then the F, that I guess is for Fahrenheit,

Does your HHR still have its factory radio, or is it fitted with an aftermarket unit. If it's the latter, the former owner didn't use an appropriate adapter when installing the radio. HHR warning chimes are generated in what's called the BCM(Body Control Module), and then they are sent to the driver's side speakers. If you still have the OEM radio, you might have a bad speaker.

Three dashes "---" on the info display when you've scrolled around to its normal default of outside temp and the odometer reading means the temp sensor is probably dead or damaged.

If you're seeing "---" when you're trying to look at the engine temp, that's usually indicative of a bad thermostat or engine temp sensor.
