The webbing in mine is extremely dirty, and full of gunk so that when it gets cold it doesn;t want to retract.
I've been living with it since I bought 'SISU'
Tried cleaning it once but gave up.

 

duz the pellet go off in crashes? or old age? mine has never been wrecked and its still Very slow retracting.

 

I wasnt sure about the junk yard either, I had a friend with one that was selling parts from a Cobalt and these were suppose to be so much like the HHR, thought i would try it. Well it too was SLOW on the return. Looks like i should buy 1 pass and 1 driver and least feel safer!

I don't recommend it, but you can rebuild the mechanism. There don't use gunpowder just gasses. It locks the belt tight not stiff.

Yup, he said "it slowly goes in" well that's what is going on with mine. If i wanted it to stay out of the door jamb i would throw it in the seat. I would like for it to retract like it did Not Slowly.
