Lock indicator light on after locking with fob

My lock indicator light stays on after locking it with the key fob. Then it goes out and then flashes like in 5 second intervals. The light goes out after unlocking it and only comes back on after relocking it. Ive never used the key to lock or unlock car either. The key fob locks and unlocks the car just fine. The light stays off after unlock nor comes on while driving. No indication of low battery. I drove it like 20 miles and it does the same thing when I get home and relocked it with the fob. No dimming of headlights, no beeps as if it was broken into, the alarm was not set off at all because I was home all evening. I've opened and shut all doors to make sure that an open door sensor wasn't triggering it. I'm hoping that when I go out to go to work in the morning that I don't have a dead battery. Any ideas? I checked the forums here and didn't find anything other than that it might have a low battery but after driving 20 miles I would think that it was fully charged. I've not had any low or dead battery issues at all.
anyways I've never noticed this indicator light on in the past

Theft deterrent system working as designed.
Read your owners manual for info about the system.

Have had the car a year and never saw it before....I guess probably I'm always walking away from the car when I fob lock it and unlock it before I even walk up to it, maybe that's why I never noticed it. I feel stupid.

Well I feel stupid because I should have just looked thru my manual, so no excuse there. I just miscomprehended the initial problem in the other thread I had read as being the same as my "issue." Fortunetly my only issue was I had never looked at my dash after fob locking it.

Never knew

How many of us went to look at our dash after reading this? Couldn't believe after owning 3 HHRs over 10 years that I never noticed this. Thought it might be a "made you look" gag. But nope, just walked my butt out there to peek into the window.... sure enough, flashing 'lock' light.

It is also the reason the alarm goes off if you lock with fob then unlock with key.
