So a $500 lnf car.
97xxx miles
Just had the timing done.
Besides the interior looking like garbage, it doesnt run.
Guy said it stalled on him while driving. No CEL, no noise, no smoke.
Small puddle of oil under it.
Towed it home. Started messing with it the next day, still had oil. Thought he put a hole in the block. Nope. Nothing there. Supposedly.
Would anything else cause an lnf to die and spill oil? Going off the pic its not a lot.
could a turbo seize up bad enough to kill the car?
If the CEL really isn't lit, get a code reader and check for pending codes. Check if the emissions monitors are ready, if not, that means that the codes have been cleared and the seller is hiding that information from you.
Did you check the oil level, have a mirror wand with you? If you are physically at the car, lift the hood, any oil on the oil lines to the turbo? Any oil at the oil cooler? A sloppy oil filter change, leave drippings?
at $500.00 , you might be looking at an engine replacement, that interior will be costly to replace, hellshotrod might be able to help you with a few parts
Personally, I would pass on it, way to much work and expensive to restore it. But if you want to rat rod an SS maybe a blanket interior and leave the patina , just fix the oil leak.
Have a squint at those spots I posted earlier, it might not be so bad.
If you need to replace the engine, a set of seats and a good detailing might get the interior back to shape.
Perhaps the timing was done improperly, causing engine damage and leaking. Did the owner do the timing himself?
I would budget for an engine replacement, among the other visible repairs.
