When an oil light starts flickering your engine is very low on oil. You should stop immediately and check it. If something blew and was causing heavy loss of oil you may not get another 5 miles and throw a rod or seize up

I guess I knew that, but I had to get to my medical appointment.

Ok check the oil and top up before you head to your new mechanic appointment, let him find the oil leak point and access the problem, don’t discuss the last guy’s findings, well because he didn’t find the leak!!

From what I've read.I don't trust your mechanic(s) and neither should you. Replacing the (pan gasket?) and then having it leak all the oil out makes no more sense than an oil leak causing multiple belt launches even after a mechanics machinations.
Sure, it's a lot easier to put in a new engine than to actually figure out what's wrong with the old one first. However, if it ran for even a short time with oil light on, it is indeed possible the the engine is "toast."

Yeah I don’t understand how he said he saw a leaking crankcase gasket, then he replaced it and fixed it, but 4 days later it’s leaking oil again when I had to get to my medical treatment. He and his kid both said when he started it up with the oil cap off, it felt like a leaf blower.
So, should I even bother with a compression test at another mechanic?

The car isn’t worth $8000 of repairs. Probably not even worth half of that after the repair.
You’d be wiser to spend the repair money on a nice used car.
And what is this so called crankcase gasket ? I think you may have your terms mixed up.
Did he say Timing cover ? Oil pan ?

Or the front crankshaft seal, behind the harmonic balancer, maybe?

Most likely this.

Did he fill the oil each time he serviced it(Serpentine Belt, alternator, etc)?
