Metal shavings in oil
Opening the chain cover the (I'm guessing?) upper guide bolt dropped out. I already have the replacement dorman one I ordered with my chain kit. What about these other two bolts? Will I be able to reuse them or do I need to order new ones? They are chewed up pretty bad and I didn't see any bolts that came with the kit.
Also the mounting bolt that is holding the gasket (I read to cut the gasket off); do I need to remove that to install the new gasket?

I already have the dorman bolt but where do I find the other two bolts to order? do I need to get them from a stealership?
edit: The oiler came in the kit

ZZP, RockAuto, GM parts direct all carry them, do not over tighten them, snug , then a 1/4 turn if you don’t own a torque wrench or properly 89 inch pounds.

I think you definitely found the source of the metal filings in the oil.

I don't trust loaner torque tools they can be abused and not perform accurately. I do have some torque wrenches but they've been in the garage not used in a couple years and I heard that can also make them inaccurate so I hope there is a little leeway when using them.
I can only assume that maybe the shavings lost their magnetism or were picked up by the magnet by the pump? I did find where the chain was rubbing the timing cover as well.
