So I took it in and they couldn't pin point the problem. They think it might be a strut mount? Ever hear of that going bad? What's weird though is when I roll the car alittle bit and tap on my brakes I hear a click as well. That makes me think more likely brakes but these techs seem not to think brakes.

Yes, heard of it. You might check the top nuts, they could be loose.

I've had the strut upper bearing plate go, the grease dried out and the little bearings didn't last long!

"bearing" is a generous name for 2 pieces of plastic with grease between them.

Did you have a similar tapping sound that led you to the mount? How hard is it too replace?

Easy to replace, you'll need coil spring compressors, and yes I did have a clicking noise

Is the coil spring in the strut mount or are you referring to the front struts? I have Monroe quick struts if that makes a difference. Coil compressors scare me.

Quick struts just mean that the assembly came with the springs already on the struts. If you had bought just replacement struts, you would have swapped over your old springs to the new struts.
To get to the bearing, you're still going to have to disassemble the strut. The spring holds pressure on the bearing.

I would advise letting someone else do the work for you. Sounds like you've never tackled something like this before. Working with the springs can be very dangerous or even turn deadly.
You could take the strut assemblies off yourself, then take them to a shop and have them swap out the bearings. That would save you some money.

Okay thanks I didn't realize this mount was attached to the strut I figured it was just a mounting plate on the car. That sounds doable taking it off and having them do it. I wouldn't mess with the compression spring.

How much should a place charge to install them on my current struts if I take the car in?
