Misfire at idle, fixed now new problem
I have seen people post misfire issues.
I bought this 2.4 LT about a month ago, didn't realize when I bought it but soon after that it was intermittently misfiring at idle.
It had new oil, at the right level when purchased
Couldn't look at the car right away, after about two weeks pulled the dipstick and it was full of gas.
Pulled the plugs and they were literally dripping with oil.
Pulled the valve cover and replaced the o-rings. Looks like the cams have been worn before their time, will post pictures tonight. I could be wrong.
Replaced plugs with AC Delco Irridium
Replaced Air Filter
Cleaned Throttle body (it was filthy caked with grime)
Changed oil (cheap stuff to wash out the gas then synthetic)
Got a bit confused with the harness for throttle valve and injectors. They both look the same, tried to colour match and crossed my fingers. Seems to have worked.
Drove the car and it no longer misfired at idle. Exhaust smelt funny, bit sweet was worried it was burning coolant, but I think it was the cleaner I had been using on the intake manifold.
That was a week ago, since then in the morning when I fire the car up it sputters and has trouble finding itself for about 10-20 seconds. Finds the right rpm and then seems to run fine. Temperature outside has been normal.
Today at a red light I caught a slight misfire.
No CEL, no codes in the system.
Pulled the plugs, they look alright.
Can't afford to throw money at it. Any first hand experience?
Thanks in advance
Shawn

When you cleaned the throttle body did you disconnect the battery? The PCM needs to recalibrate after cleaning the throttle body. Disconnecting the battery forces a reset. I just did this on my GMC Sierra and forgot to disconnect the battery, got a CEL code right away. It took a few days to start running smooth again.
Get a couple of bottles of Techron fuel injector cleaner. Run one each in two tanks of gas.
