I have access to all warranty repairs on the vehicle, but a compression test does not have a Labor Operation Number, so it is claimed as OLH (other labor hours) and tacked on to the repair that is performed.

argh!!!

Okay here is todays dealer findings. Scanned the codes and surprisingly P0300 and P0303 still. (sorry this is getting tiresome) Now their concern is what gas I am running. which is Shell 87. I understand that 93 is recommended but not required, however why would it make sense that the fuel is causing the misfire always in #3? seems to me that it would roam around at least once. But has anyone else seen this.

the other solution is doing the injection cleaning (new injectors by the way maybe 6000 miles on them) at a cost to me of $130. This really doesn't settle right with me.

Any thoughts?

#3 piston is also the known piston for piston ring failure. Shouldn't be connected.

Have you checked your oil level? See if it's eating any?

Do you have a stage 1? That takes the prem gas recommendation to a requirement.

It could be that the #3 cylinder is the hottest therefore predetinating that cylinder on the lower octane gas. Of coarse a simple fix would be to fill it up with some 93 octane and maybe even put a little shot of octane booster in there.. run it for a few miles. Reset or pull battery power to reset the codes. See if they come back.

good morning, Well I topped the Tank off with Shell 93 so it is now 75% premium and I dumped a bottle of Chevron injector cleaner in per the Service Techs recommendation. No issue this morning at 28deg. I guess it makes some sense that it may need the higher octane with cold ambient. but still seems it would random cylinders, but 3 could have some odd characteristic.

No stage kits, 100% stock. To me at all seems the tailpipe is very sooty, is this the same for the rest of you?

oh I think I will be pulling the plugs myself in a few days to see how they look and see if 3 is burning oil.
