Motor noise

Hello all. I have an 08 hhr, 2.4 30,000 miles on it 1000 miles on last oil change. Dip stick shows full. Oil is yelowish color. Smells like oil. Runs good, no problems. Went to crank it after setting all night and it sounded like the valves and rods were going to come out of it for about 3 seconds, then it sounded ok and ran ok. Should i be concerned or is this sort of normal.

That's not a normal characteristic of this engine. I would check to make sure the oil filter isn't coming apart at the least. If it looks ok I would schedule a visit to the dealer. They may need to keep it over night to duplicate the noise.

my car does the same thing went to the dealer and they said it was normal

Slight noise would be acceptable....coming out of the engine noise would not. I guess it's all interpretation. I would have to hear to say either way.

It sounded like a motor with no oil in it for about 3 seconds

What brand of filter are you using? I had something similar happen on my Catera when a new Fram filter broke apart. A piece of the filter clogged up the oil internal oil cooler. Nearly toasted the entire valve train. I've heard other stories about Fram oil filters. I will never use another one again.

I use a/c delco filter and use royal purple 10w 30 motor oil .
I have 15400 miles on my hhr

I dont know what kind of filter it is. It was serviced at the dealer
